Impact: the film was shown to community leaders in the Tampa Bay Area. Pre- and post-film screening surveys assessed changes in the audience's perspectives and understanding of climate risk. The film screening participants were then invited to expertly-guided boat tours in Tampa Bay to witness firsthand the areas impacted by sea-level rise and water quality issues. key findings and changes in knowledge have been published in an academic journal. Titled “Dear Tampa Bay: Creating and Leveraging a Climate Resilience Documentary Film Using Storytelling for Citizen Engagement," The Paper assesses the film's impact on over 250 local community members, highlighting the effectiveness of storytelling in enhancing understanding, fostering urgency, and promoting collective actioN.

Impact: Josphine Ekiru became a 2020 Indigenous Women Fellow at Conservation International shortly after the film was published. She also became a United States Peace Institute 2021 Women Building Peace Award Winner. A US-based podcast “Wild and Curiosus” featured Josphine in Episode: 009. The film was the Super Short Film Award Winner at the American Conservation Film Festival. The award money helped Josphine's daughter, Lilian Akal, start her own conservation project to plant 10,000 trees in Kona Village, Ngaremara Ward of Isiolo County.

Impact: The film was picked up by Fast Company and was shown locally to FERIAMM, which helped increase awareness of the local work being done by the women. This led to the women presenting at the XI Meeting of Community Tourism in the city of Moyobamba on the Nuwas Forest. This film was also used as a case study for American University’s Center for Environmental Filmmaking Impact Report to illustrate the ways in which environmental storytelling can raise the profiles of local filmmakers, amplify local voices, and boost innovative production and distribution trends. The film also inspired the women to create their own short film.
